La Cage aux Folles, has the beautiful 'Cagelles' singing "We are what we are" as they are leaving us wondering what, or rather who, really are they? We find out, in this hilarious romp of a show.
This Tony Award winner for
Best Musical is a boisterous and uplifting
celebration of love in an untraditional
family who owns a St. Tropez nightclub.
Their domestic peace is shattered however,
when their son must introduce his prospective
straight-laced in-laws to his own loving
"parents". The show is filled with gorgeous
costumes, fabulous dance numbers and a
wonderful Jerry Herman score including
"The Best of Time", "I Am What I Am" and
"The Song of the Sand". THE BIRDCAGE,
the movie starring Robin Williams and
Nathan Lane, is the updated version of
this toe tapper story and is a triumph
of sentimental showmanship. |
